For many suitable ducted systems, MERV 13 is a practical starting point. Higher filtration is considered when the equipment and airflow support it, not just because the number is bigger.
Whether you are replacing equipment or improving what you already have, we look at the filter, airflow, ductwork and service access together.

Our roots are in duct cleaning and indoor air quality. Seeing what collects in ductwork, blowers and coils shapes how we design and service HVAC systems. Filtration, airflow and the equipment need to work together.

Filter surface area, duct sizing and pressure drop all matter. A larger, properly designed filter arrangement can reduce resistance, but a filter alone cannot fix undersized ducts.
A proper seal helps keep air from bypassing the filter. An accessible cabinet and a clear replacement plan make looking after the system simpler.
For eligible new ducted installations, our approach is to include deep-media AprilAire filtration in the system design from the start. We use as much filter surface area as the system, ductwork and available space reasonably support.
You do not need to learn the terminology to ask for help.
MERV describes particle capture, not airflow resistance. Filter design, surface area, airflow and dust buildup all matter. We match filtration to the equipment and check the installed system. MERV 16 is not the right choice for every setup.
Properly fitted filtration helps limit dust reaching protected parts of the system. It supports routine maintenance, but does not replace it. Filters still need to be checked and changed as needed.
AprilAire offers a 10-year Clean-Coil Commitment for qualifying installations. It contributes toward eligible coil cleaning, not repairs to the whole HVAC system. Product, installation and maintenance requirements apply. We would confirm eligibility and any registration steps for your installation.
That depends on the filter, how much the system runs and how quickly dust builds up. We would identify the correct replacement, show you how to change it and explain when to check it. There is no single replacement schedule for every home.
Not yet. These are working ranges for one-system retrofit work, before any applicable tax: $275–$425 for a compatible filter-and-rail improvement, or $525–$600 for a standard new cabinet. We would confirm the fit and work needed before quoting. Nonstandard work can fall outside these ranges.
